Advertising and Google AdSense
We may use Google AdSense and other advertising partners to display ads on the Site. These companies may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide relevant advertisements.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, visit How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Where required by law, for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used.
Analytics
We may use analytics services such as Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. These services collect information such as pages visited, time spent on the Site, approximate location derived from IP address, and device type. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Affiliate links
Some pages contain affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer may set a cookie to record that you came from Travon. We do not receive your personal information from these companies, only aggregated commission reports. Read more in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Embedded content
Pages may include embedded content such as maps or videos. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you visited that website and may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with it.
Who we share information with
- Service providers who host the Site, deliver email or provide security, only as needed to provide their service.
- Advertising and analytics partners, as described above.
- Authorities, if required by law or to protect our rights, our readers or the public.
- A successor business, if Travon Inc. is involved in a merger or acquisition. We would notify you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
How long we keep information
Contact messages are kept for up to 24 months so we can follow up on corrections and questions, then deleted. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages identified as spam are deleted regularly. Server logs kept by our hosting provider are typically retained for a short period for security purposes.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time.
- California residents: under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, you may request to know what personal information we collect, request deletion or correction, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
- Residents of other US states with comprehensive privacy laws, such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and Oregon, have similar rights.
- Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland: our legal bases are your consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies), our legitimate interests (answering messages, keeping the Site secure) and legal obligations. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To make a request, use the “Privacy request” option on our contact page or email info@travon.blog. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, usually within 30 days, and may need to verify your identity first.
